Classic Game Room HD – KARATEKA for Atari 7800 review

by admin on February 9, 2010

Classic Game Room was the FIRST classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999. Returning in 2008 with new episodes, Classic Game Room breaks out a review of KARATEKA on the Atari 7800 video game console system, also known as the Atari 7800 PROSYSTEM. This is a martial arts fighting action game where you are a karate master fighting for your honor (and for a hot babe locked in a dungeon!) This is regarded as one of the worst games on the Atari 7800 and suffers from awful, terrible controls. Fight through various levels and bad guys, use martial arts skills but don’t expect fast and exciting gameplay. Karateka is not Ninja Gaiden, Samurai Shodown or Revenge of Shinobi. This is more like watching grass grow mixed with Karate Kid II. Be sure to watch the original Classic Game Room episodes. Classic Game Room was the original classic video game review show on the Internet in 1999-2000, now on DVD. The HD series is reviewing PS3, PS2, Genesis, NES, Atari and Xbox 360. XBLA. videos review reviews show wii

This game is by far the WORST game I own for my Atari 7800/2600 collection. And, yes, that includes E.T. and Pac-Man…

And Journey Escape:)

Ketorulz February 9, 2010 at 7:43 am

@ThePspdog98 Yes it was made for the NES. And whoever thumbed you down is retarded.

one of the three games I owned on the 7800. it sucked, would much rather play DK Junior or the orig Mario Bros. But who needed Krapteka when you had Asteroids built-in?

Wasn’t this game originally by Jordan Mechner (who later made Prince of Persia) and released on the Apple II?

joesatube February 9, 2010 at 11:40 am

the shot of the girl waiting looks exactly like prince of persia. The life bars too.

Yeah that’s like me and Friday the 13th on nes. Horrible Game but i just can’t stop playing it.

I actually was right with you on how crappy this game is. But then I figured out the controls, and the music is so bad that it makes me laugh. And it’s so simplistic and that’s very charming for some reason. And the cutscenes with the princess and stuff, are kinda cute.

It’s become a really bad game that I just love to love. It’s weird.

I always thought it was “Kara- Teh – Ka”.

Yea I got this game with my Atari 7800 recently. I couldn’t help but laugh when I ran into the bad guy and fell over dead in 1 hit lol.

Had the best audio though.

I had this also 4 my c64, and the ending was sweet but if you try to come at the princess in a defensive position she would hit u and the game would be over. Haha, so u had to run to her to hug her.

I’ll tell you, this was a pretty hot game on the Apple II.

The sound effects were very elegant and suggestive in the home computer versions — but not here. Sound was always the worst weakness of the Atari 7800.

zattle123 February 9, 2010 at 5:28 pm
